Market conditions are more rapidly changing now due to destructive technological advancements and world crises such as COVID pandemics. Not to fall behind the competition, companies need to predict the changes in advance, take strategic decisions, and act as quickly as possible. Developing new and demanded products fast and effectively with high customer value preposition is one of the ways for almost all product- driven companies.

Introducing a new and competitive product to the market requires world-class experience and skills in transferrin technologies into product design and utilizing the most up-to-date product development tools and procedures.

Product Development Engineering is an engineering training program that has been developed based on many years of experience in companies and institutes such as Ford Motor, General Motors, Kodak, Xerox, Toyota, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The program has a proven step-by-step development procedure, which has been heavily in use since its first introduction in the early 2000s. In a further study, the program has been revised and enriched by adding implementation experience gained from regional companies to make the knowledge set effectively practicable in new product development efforts of regional companies.

One flagship program. Two unique formats.

Blended modular format – The program has 5 modules, consisting of 40 hours intensive training. Each module lasts a full day (8 hours) with a blended format of lectures and workshop activities. Depending on availability or preference of attendees, these modules can be divided into several block sessions, such as 2 continuous days a week + 3 continuous days a week, or similar. If not open to individual applications, the program can be held in customers’ facilities or other mutually agreed locations/centers (university campuses, conference centers, hotels, etc.).

Blended continuous format – In this format, the program takes place over five-day continuous intensive sessions. Each day is planned with 8 hours of blended classroom training and workshop practices. The program can be scheduled from Monday through Friday or Wednesday through Sunday or similar formats depending on customer requests.

Key Benefits

The aim of the program is to familiarize participants with new and effective product development processes and necessary engineering tools so that they can implement this knowledge in the workplace to create world- class innovative products. Through well-organized lectures and workshop practices, participants will learn a step-by-step product development procedure and find opportunities to gain hands-on experience, particularly in the topics below:
  • Get familiar with product value proposition for competition
  • Hear the real and hidden voice of the costumers
  • Develop a product competition strategy for global market
  • Develop target product specifications to respond to the voices
  • Develop system and subsystem concepts of the product
  • Build prototypes, conduct tests, collect data
  • Make system-level optimization for robust performance
  • Develop high quality, low cost manufacturing tolerances
  • Conduct validations tests in the field
  • Prepare necessary documentation for production and service
  • Make product development outputs ready for production team

What You Will Learn

It is intended to provide participants with the state-of-the-art knowledge in new product development through well-designed lectures and workshops. Participants will learn new tools, procedures, and strategies to create a competitive power in the market. Throughout the training sessions, the following topics will be covered.

  • New product development basics
  • Successful product strategy development
  • Develop the voice of the customer
  • Develop subsystem specifications and supplier specs.
  • Product concept generation and selection
  • Subsystem and piece part design
  • Build prototypes, conduct tests, collect data
  • Make system, subsystem level optimization for robust performance
  • Develop high quality, low cost manufacturing tolerances
  • Conduct product validations tests in the field
  • Develop pilot production and quality control plans
  • Prepare necessary documentation for production and service
  • Make product development outputs ready for production team
